SUPER FRAGILISTIC- Performance, 2011
ISCP, New York, U.S
When you arrive to New York, whatever is your story, whatever is your aim, you feel that the American dream is still active.
You feel like these millions of people before you, landing during centuries, with hope and fear.
You feel as they did, that this place would change something in your life.
You feel like an immigrant.
You are an immigrant.
Before coming to New York, I packed my furniture, I left my home and when I was looking at my suitcase I thought about Mary Poppins, the famous nomad nanny and her magic bag.
And I wondered how to fit your entire house, your personal belongings, your culture, your story in a simple bag.
Super Fragilistic is an ongoing project about the immigration and the experience as a migrant.
The performance realised by the artist herself is a silent action in progress. It features a reflexion about the immigration background of United States in connexion to the artist’s personal living in New York City.
All the performance costumes have been created exclusively with fabrics found in the country, at Material For The Arts.
