The Nest- Performance- El Beso- Madrid- 2010

The Nest is a performance about the metamorphosis process and the creation, created in relation with a very intimate event.
Based on the matrioska concept, where a shape contains another, the action features a permanent change of forms.
Hélène Picard, covered by several exuberant shaped costumes, takes out each coat, one after one, until revealing an unexpected form in progress: her pregnancy. The artist performed eight month pregnant.

As a silkworm when it spins its cocoon to transform itself in butterfly, every costumes piece is hanging in the space for creating a refuge: a nest.
The Nest with its revelation process of the different coats and its final climax of the pregnancy raises the perpetual and mysterious transformation of natural forms, enhanced by the use of organic material as cotton, paper, wool or rafia.

The Nest includes on the same time fashion design, action and installation as the main investigation topics led by Hélène Picard since 2008, when she started to work on the connection between painting and sewing.
It supposes mainly a very intense living experience by mixing personal space and artistic stage.
